Making your film look its best

Whatever the project, you’ll want your film to look and sound as good as it possibly can.

Broadly speaking, people retain 10% of what they read, 20% of what they hear, 30% of what they see and a whopping 50% of what they see and hear combined, so film can be a very powerful medium. To capitalise on this, it’s important that the visual and aural construction is carefully thought through and delivered.

Our expertise in grading allows us to radically alter the mood and atmosphere of a shot. Take this still from our narrative short Larry Day: Good Lawyer - the top image is the original, and the bottom image was the version we decided to use in the final film. The middle image is an alternative grade, which made whilst we were still shooting the film, but was later dismissed as being too cold and bleak for the ending.

Whilst both graded versions bring out elements of the original, the atmosphere of each is markedly different - it's always interesting to compare frames like this, and it really does go to show what a powerful effect colour can have.
